Grits, Black Beans, Tortillas and Sweet Tea
These are the foods this Latina Southern Momma was raised on. My Momma was a traditional and very southern South Georgia tobacco farm gal and my dad a coffee farming immigrant from Central America. An unusual combination, to be sure but it worked–and provided me a unique perspective on how unusual combinations make the most beautiful marriages! I have always been drawn to unusual combinations–foods, clothing, and most notably, home decor. The “Re-purposing and Recycling” phenomenon was spot on and spoke to me in a distinctive way– use things I love or have loved and create something new that works for me. This is what I have always done. I take this to heart in all areas of my life, whether it is fashioning an outdated or vintage brooch that I adore into a cool and different piece of wearable jewelry; turn a dark, ugly, heavy piece of 60′s furniture into something light as a feather that would fit into a “princess” bedroom; use an old primitive pie safe to display towels and guest items in my bathroom; or fashion whimsical dragonflies for your garden out of discarded ceiling fans.
At Fancy Honey Vintage Market you will find unique, one-of-a-kind finds — local crafted goods such as pottery, jewelry, art, textiles, fun and colorful children’s furnishings, primitive country and Americana, easy-to-live-with antiques, and elegant “Frenchy” decor! We are inspired to artfully create goods that make living more beautiful. Together, with a select group of consignors, I make it more shabby chic, more elegant, more fun, more colorful, and more relevant to how you are living your life today.
I opened this market because I wanted to create a shop that brought together creative people of all types — kitchen table artisans making jewelry before the kids come home, would be carpenters, glass artists and potters, women armed with knitting needles and sewing machines, and spray-paint-wielding wild women set loose in their garages on weekends.
Step inside our storefront or shop us on Etsy to see how antlers, candlesticks, horseshoes, vintage keys, headboards, footboards, and discarded furniture and wood fit for the dumpster, along with other unusual items, have been used to fashion something you will fall in love with and continue to love years to come!
